Drama as Kikuyu Elders Fight Over Raila’s sh1200 Payment in Bondo

Drama ensued on Saturday afternoon at the home of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga in Bondo after a delegation of Kikuyu elders demanded to be paid.

According to sources, the Kikuyu elders who had made the historic trip to crown Raila Odinga as GEMA nation 2022 presidential candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, protested the amount of payment they received contrary to the earlier agreement.

They were allegedly paid sh 1200 each instead of sh 5,000 forcing some of them to shout demanding and calling for justice.

The delegation made up of hundreds of elders from the Kikuwasommunity was hosted by the former Prime Minister at his home popularly known as Kango Kajaramogi were led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda, a pioneer member of the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee Party that is campaigning against Deputy President Dr William Ruto.

According to the elders, they had been promised sh 5000 each if they attended the ceremony.

They claim some rogue organizers took away their share and called on the host Raila Odinga to pay them their money.

Here is what happened in Bondo,

6 AM: Kikuyu Council of Elders arrive at Kang’o Karajaramogi, Bondo in choppers and buses.

7 AM: ODM Raila Odinga is said to have arrived at Kan’go Ka Jaramogi with several MPs, Governors and senators joining him.

8 AM: Dancing troops led by Kochia traditional dancers, Nyatiti and Apoya women dancers entertained the guests.

11 AM: Raila accompanied by several MPs and Kikuyu Council of Elders Chairman Wachira Kiago honour the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

1200: Prayers were led by Bishop of Bondo diocese Prof David Kodia and Bishop Ogonyo Ngede.

2 PM:  Elders receive their travel allowance as fights ensued among themselves.
